The mesh is fine enough to block splatters without slowing down steaming. Only wish the handle were a bit longer for my larger frying pans.

I wasn't expecting the handle to stay as cool as it does while the pan is bubbling away. It fits my 12-inch skillet perfectly and really cuts down on oil splatters on the stovetop. Just wish the mesh was a tiny bit finer for sautéing smaller bits.
